Dr. Alapati Ramakrishna is a distinguished academic and researcher, currently serving as the Professor and Head of the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AIML) & CSE (AIML) at BVC Engineering College, Odalarevu, Andhra Pradesh, India. With a strong foundation in engineering and artificial intelligence, he has made significant contributions to academia, research, and institutional development over his extensive career.

Dr. Ramakrishna holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada. His academic journey began with a Bachelor of Technology degree in Mechanical Engineering from Nagarjuna University in 1996, followed by a Master of Engineering in Thermal Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, in 1999. To further his expertise in the rapidly evolving field of artificial intelligence, he completed an AICTE-QIP-PG Certificate Program in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning from the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Una, in 2024.

He commenced his academic career at BVC Engineering College in 1999 as a Lecturer and was subsequently promoted to Assistant Professor in 2000, Associate Professor in 2006, and Professor in 2011. Over the years, he has taken on multiple leadership roles, contributing significantly to the institution’s growth. As the Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering from 2007 to 2016, he played a key role in securing NBA accreditation for the department twice, in 2009 and 2013, as well as guiding it through the NAAC accreditation process in 2013. His leadership extended beyond the department as he served as the Institutional Innovation Council (IIC) President since 2022 and Convener of the Entrepreneurship, Innovation & Skill Development Cell since 2016. Additionally, he was the Controller of Examinations at BVCEC from 2018 to 2020 and again from 2021 to 2022, ensuring efficient academic assessment and examination processes.

In recognition of his research contributions, Dr. Ramakrishna has been actively involved in various funded projects, including an AICTE-MODROBS funded research initiative on the suitability of alternative fuels for diesel engines, for which he received a grant of ₹11.5 lakhs in 2013. His academic achievements include 27 research publications in national and international journals and conferences. He has also guided 25 postgraduate (M.Tech) and 60 undergraduate (B.Tech) students in their research projects.

As an advocate for continuous learning and professional development, he has organized and attended numerous conferences, workshops, and faculty development programs. His commitment to academic excellence and research has been recognized through his memberships in prestigious professional organizations, including the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) as a Life Member, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) as a Senior Member.

Dr. Ramakrishna continues to be a driving force in academia, leading the AIML and CSE(AIML) departments with a vision to integrate artificial intelligence and machine learning into core engineering education and research. His extensive experience, leadership, and commitment to innovation make him a pivotal figure in the academic community.
